Supply chain frustrations - excuse to hide behind, or real, or both?

Dear all,

Kellow Construction Team here again to talk about:

Supply chain, supply chain, always the supply chain!

We are constantly being told items that used to be 1-2 months out, are now 6-8 months out. Due to what? Of course, supply chain issues.

Sometimes I just want to throw my hands up. What has happened? We have walked on the moon for Pete's sake, and we can't figure out how to produce and deliver a set of cabinets in less than half a year?

It seems the echoing effects of the Covid era are still reverberating loudly. It sounds like there is no end in sight, and this essentially has become the new normal.

If you have a project on the horizon make sure whomever is managing your project is on top of ordering materials toot sweet once you have your plans finalized. A delay in materials will typically bog down the whole process. Materials are going up in cost daily as well. Finalizing plans, and placing material orders is key to staying within budget. The age old adage "time is money" is all too true for our industry.

I loved this article, please take a look if you are interested.

Here are a couple quotes for those of you who want the cliff notes:

"Even when the lockdown does lift and logistics come back online in full, companies may face fresh headaches as they all vie for supplies at the same time, Johnson said. The ensuing supply constraints could cause commodity prices to rise another 4% to 5%."

"We have a real challenge in planning, because as soon as you get out of trouble in one area, a few weeks later you're into trouble in another area," Bushaw said. "The biggest challenge is uncertainty and not knowing ... when these challenges will come to an end."

Thank you for your continued support of our company. Please keep us in mind for any projects or referrals you might be able to send our way! Pass our website along and keep in touch!

Sincerely,
The Kellow Construction Team
