Kitchen remodel FAQs

How long does a kitchen remodel typically take? +

Most of our kitchen remodels run 3–6 months total. The design phase — where we nail down layout, materials, and finishes — takes 4–8 weeks. Construction follows. We give you a realistic timeline during your consultation, not an optimistic guess we walk back later.

Can I stay in my home during the remodel? +

In most cases, yes. We sequence the work to minimize disruption and set up temporary arrangements so you're not completely without a kitchen. For full gut renovations, we'll tell you honestly if living in the space will be genuinely difficult — before we start, not mid-construction.

Do you help with material selections? +

Yes — our in-house designer leads you through every selection: cabinetry, countertops, hardware, tile, fixtures, and lighting. You won't be handed a link to a showroom and left alone. We guide you through trade-offs and make sure everything works together as a cohesive design.

Do you help with the design and layout? +

We do a lot of "pull and replace" work — gut the space, keep the layout — but most of our projects involve moving walls, adding windows, or rethinking how the kitchen connects to the rest of the house. We think about how you actually use the space: workflow, storage for your specific stuff, how light moves through the room. Form follows function.

What does a kitchen remodel cost in Santa Barbara? +

Most of our kitchen remodels range from $80k–$250k+, depending on scope, finishes, and structural work. We're not the cheapest option — we're the right option if you want it done well, once. We work within your budget during the design phase and give you a fixed price before construction begins.

Do you handle permits? +

Yes, fully. We manage all permitting with the City of Santa Barbara or County as required. Most kitchen remodels need permits for electrical, plumbing, and structural work. We've done this many times and know what the city expects.

Do you work on historic homes? +

It's one of our specialties. Santa Barbara has craftsman bungalows, Spanish colonials, mid-century modern homes — we know how to modernize these kitchens in a way that feels right for the house. Not a renovation that landed in the wrong room. Something that feels like it was always there.
